Part1

1. What excites you when you have special days?
The day is unusual, so it excites me. Let’s say a birthday. It is one of the special days, and we feel like we can reset our life that day. Moreover, we tend to get many messages from our family or friends. It makes us delighted and energized. Also. we can notice that we are not alone, but we have lots of people who celebrate and support me.

2. What people generally do when special days come?
Generally speaking, we spend the day with family, friends, or partners. They celebrate the person who is related to the special day by having dinner at a restaurant or eating a cake. Besides, the person sometimes get presents or messages from them.

3. Are you abroad or do you stay in your home country when special days come?
I have been in Japan when those days came, but hopefully, I will be abroad next to my special day such as my birthday. It is because being abroad is special and I can feel excited about that. I like new things, so I want to spend the day in other countries as different as I have spent the day so far. The day would be wonderful if I could do that.

4. What do you do when special days come?
I try to go to a kind of special place such as an amusement park or a luxury restaurant. I actually went to Disneyland on my thirtieth birthday with my friend. I stayed at a hotel which is located in it. It was marvelous and It became the most unforgettable birthday I have ever experienced.

5. How long do you think a special day/ special days should be?
In my opinion, it should be only one day. It is enough for me because I think a special day is precious because it is only one day. If we have a special “week”, not a special “day”, we cannot enjoy a day in a special week more than we have only one special day. In addition, people who celebrate a special week must be tired.

Part2

Describe a special day in your country.

I would like to explain about “Coming of Age Day.” The day is for people who have turned or will turn twenty years old that year. It is the second Sunday in January in Japan. Men usually wear hakama that is long pleated culotte like Japanese trousers that day, and on the other hand, women usually wear kimono that is traditional Japanese clothes. They gather at a public place to celebrate the day together depending on the city where they live. Generally, the mayor of each city gives them a speech. I think the custom is meaningful because we can recognize ourselves as an adult that day, so it is a good opportunity to get a grip on ourselves. Besides, we can feel Japanese culture by wearing hakama or kimono.

Part3

1. Do you think it is possible to have a year without special days?

No, it is hard and sad for me, so I cannot bear that. A special day is essential for me to change or refresh my life. Basically, there is a special day per year. So, I can compare the day of the current year and the previous. It is good timing to look back on the year I spent.

2. Do you think about special days: vacation or additional workload?

I think it is a special vacation since I can feel happy and get rid of my stress. Usually, my friends or family treat me that day, so it is a wonderful day for me. In addition, the person who has a special day such as one’s birthday can take a day-off in Japan, though, it depends on the company. That’s why it should be a vacation, not an additional workload.

3. There is a proverb that says, "You need a special day. It is essential for your health" Do you agree?

I agree with that in some ways. It can be a stress remover. Feeling stress strongly tends to be bad for our health. Besides, we can keep good relationships with others if we remember others’ special day and celebrate them. Relationships with others are also related to stress, so it might be able to a way to keep healthy.
